Work note

Peak cargo-capacity record

Bookings, physical tender, and terminal handling capacity remain separate states so the allocation has a reviewable next step.

Contents of the record

Peak-season bookings often precede the physical tender of cargo. The record separates confirmed tender status, items awaiting confirmation, and cargo that may move to another departure.

It also lists weighing, screening, build-up and cut-off windows, together with current and nearby departures, aircraft suitability, and usable capacity.

Hypothetical situation

A Hong Kong departure enters the e-commerce peak. Bookings are still increasing, but some shipments have no confirmed tender time. The handling window is close to its limit, and a nearby departure still has capacity.

Capacity is held for cargo with confirmed tender status. Ground operations rechecks the handling window, and fleet planning checks the current and nearby departures. Unconfirmed cargo remains open until tender status or flight capacity changes.

Review sequence

Update confirmed and unconfirmed tender first, then check the remaining ground-handling window, and only then test whether a nearby departure can accept rebooked freight. Spare flight capacity does not make untendered cargo ready to move.

Each review retains its timestamp, source, and next owner. A change in tender status or usable capacity updates the affected line rather than overwriting the previous judgement.

Handoff record

The handoff lists the rate recommendation, capacity allocation, rebooking options, unconfirmed cargo, and material required for the next review.

I keep open items on their own line so the next person can see what is still missing.
