A 48-pallet handling window from tender to cutoff
Tender, scanning, build-up, and cutoff each consume part of the window; storage capacity is not a processing rate.
Separate storage from processing
48 pallets are expected between 06:00 and 10:00. The build-up line is recorded at 12 pallets per hour, before allowing for weighing, screening and scanning.
The terminal may hold the freight while still lacking enough time to process every pallet before cutoff. Tender time, scan status, queue position and cutoff therefore stay in separate fields.
The rebooking trigger
A scan backlog beyond 30 minutes causes the queue to be reviewed. Screened freight with complete data moves first; pieces without a scan record remain open.
6 pallets are assigned to a later departure in this example. The reason is “handling window”, not “warehouse space”.
Conditions that keep the plan provisional
The handoff cannot become a final release if the build rate is unconfirmed, scan times are missing or the later departure has no locked capacity.
The example ends with a provisional allocation and makes no claim that the rebooked freight eventually flew.
